The only thing Nagorno- Karabakh expected from the meeting of the Armenian, Azeri and Russian presidents in Sochi was peace and stability in the region, Spokesman of Nagorno-Karabakh's President David Babayan told ArmInfo on Monday.
"We could not hope for any progress considering Azerbaijan's destructive position and its persistence in breaking the cease-fire regime. Nevertheless, the meeting was fruitful," Babayan said.
He pointed out that as a country having a big influence and serious interests in the region, Russia made it clear that further escalation of tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh was not good from both geopolitical and humanitarian points of view.
"And this is the key result of the meeting," Babayan said.
He said that lately the Azeris were steadily pushing the situation to war. "They kept organizing sabotage attacks and bombarding our positions, but they faced a worthy rebuff and were forced to cool heat," Babayan said.
