In the given process high priority is given to the negotiations themselves, which ensure relative peace in the conflict zone, Vice Speaker of Armenian Parliament, member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia Hermine Naghdalyan has told ArmInfo's correspondent when commenting on Nagorno-Karabakh Prime Minister Ara Harutyunyan's latest statement about the unacceptability of the Madrid Principles to Stepanakert.

Washington on Thursday voiced "deep concern" over arrest of prominent Azerbaijani human rights activist Leyla Yunus, and criminal charges against her and her husband, Arif Yunus, who were accused of high treason, tax evasion and other economic crimes, Turan reported.

Electric power tariffs rise for population of Armenia on 1 August

On 1 June the Public Services Regulatory Commission took a decision to increase the electricity tariff for the Armenian population by 10% starting from 1 August 2014. In accordance with the consumer watchdog's decision, the daytime tariff for the population grew to 41.85 AMD per 1 KW/h versus the current 38 AMD (up 10.1%) and the night- time tariff - to 31.85 AMD versus the current 28 AMD (up 13.7%).
