"Sometimes there is smoke without fire and my concerns over the quality of gas in the country has gone away. Nevertheless, we will not stop our examinations as long as we receive complaints from citizens," Armen Poghosyan, Head of the Union of Consumers of Armenia NGO, told reporters, Wednesday.
Poghosyan presented the results of the examinations conducted at Gazprom Armenia's labs. According to him, the caloric value of gas in the country is 8200 kcal. Under the current gas tariff, the caloric value must be 7900kcal.
"In the course of the meeting with the company leadership, we made two proposals: to examine the gas caloric value at a mobile lab or do it abroad," Poghosyan said. The second offer was rejected due to its high costs. The caloric value was tested at the company's lab immediately after the meeting. Asked about the impartiality of the expertise at a company that is blamed for supplying low quality gas,
Poghosyan said he has no right to cast doubt on the impartiality of the expertise. Nevertheless, if the results are fake, those guilty will be punished. Meanwhile, Poghosyan said he will try to persuade Gazprom Armenia to send a gas sample abroad for expertise on own costs. Gazprom Armenia leadership and members of the Association of Consumers of Armenia met on 17 February over the gas quality issue. They chose a flat of a journalist present at the meeting on a random basis and took a gas sample that was later tested at a mobile lab of the company.
