It is more expedient to increase spending on customer services rather than keep unprofitable infrastructures, Andrey Pyatakhin, Beeline Armenia CEO, told ArmInfo when commenting on possible sale of 50,000 cell towers by VimpelCom.
"No decisions have been adopted yet, we are studying the world experience in the field. If the company can have additional funds from the use of its infrastructure by other organizations, it will use that opportunity," he explained.
In his words, the world mobile operators seek to become more customer-oriented and do not spend much on maintenance of infrastructures. Pyatakhin said infrastructures can be profitable assets only in case of their right management. After all, cell towers and other infrastructures of the company can be used in metrology too.
To note, ArmenTel CJSC (Beeline brand) is a member of VimpelCom Group. In 2015, the company registered a record-breaking growth of mobile customers - up to 100,000.
VimpelCom is one of the world's largest integrated telecommunications services operators providing voice and data services through a range of traditional and broadband mobile and fixed technologies in Russia, Italy, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Algeria, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Burundi, Zimbabwe, Central African Republic and Canada.
