A number of Armenian NGOs have urged the world community to condemn human rights violations and the Mar 1 2008 events in Armenia.
Asparez, Transparency International Armenia, Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office and Armenian Committee for Solidarity with Maidan says that the authorities' inaction in disclosing the Mar 1 crimes has boosted emigration from the country.
"Unless these events are condemned, there will be no supremacy of law in Armenia. Both former President Robert Kocharyan and current President Serzh Sargsyan are responsible for the events. Until they are interrogated, there will be no real investigation," the NGOs say.
The Mar 1 2008 disorders followed the election of Serzh Sargsyan as President of Armenia and claimed 10 lives among both civilians and policemen.
