Tbilisi. The Commanding General of the U.S. Army Europe,
Lieutenant General Donald Campbell is paying a visit to Georgia within the 8th
Annual Conference of European Armies for Noncommissioned Officers.
On Thursday, May 22, Defence Minister of
Georgia, Irakli Alasania, held a meeting with Donald Campbell.
As the Georgian Defence Ministry reports,
at the meeting the parties discussed USA-Georgia bilateral cooperation in the defence
sphere. Irakli Alasania expressed gratitude for the USA's support for strengthening Georgia's defence
capabilities and enhancing NATO interoperability.
The Defence Minister provided the
Commander of the U.S. Army Europe with information on ongoing reforms in Georgina defence sphere
and outlined main achievements in defence transformation process, including
NATO BI, improvement of the conditions for military servicemen and wounded
warrior treatment/rehabilitation capacities.
Georgia's participation in ISAF mission
and engagement in Resolute Support Mission beyond 2014 were one of the main
topics of the discussion. At the meeting Defence Minister referred to EU-led
operation EUFOR RCA, for which Georgia is sending one company.
