Two of the last four hostages kept at the building of the Police Patrol Station in Yerevan that was seized on July 17 by an armed group calling itself "Daredevils of Sasoun" has been released today, as the hostage situation entered day 7.
Gala.tv reports referring to Varuzhan Avetisyan, a member of "Daredevils of Sasoun," the decision was adopted after a meeting with Georgy Kutoyan, the head of the National Security Service of Armenia, moderated by Major General Vitaly Balasanyan, the Karabakh War Hero.
Avetisyan said an agreement was made to create a press center in the territory of the seized building.
"Afterwards, we will release Valery Osipyan, the deputy head of the Yerevan Police, and Vardan Yeghiazaryan, the deputy head of the Armenian Police, on condition that the authorities ensure free access for mass media," Avetisyan said.
To recall, the armed loyalists of the jailed oppositionist Jirayr Sefilyan seized the above police station demanding release of Sefilyan and resignation of President Serzh Sargsyan.
They still keep as hostage Valery Osipyan, the deputy head of the Yerevan Police, and Vardan Yeghiazaryan, the deputy head of the Armenian Police.
