A magnitude 3.6 earthquake hit Georgia in the area of Kareli, Shida Kartli region, at 9.48am local time, Wednesday, Black Sea Press said referring to the Center of Seismis Monitoring at Ilia State University.
The epicenter was Kvenaplavi village located 5km from Kareli regional center and 60km from Tbilisi.
"The population have probably felt the shocks, but it would not cause any destructions. This region is considered a relatively active seismic zone," a representative of the Center said. Georgia is a country with medium seismic activity. Racha (Western Georgia) is the most seismically active region of Georgia.
