President of the Republika Srpska entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik has submitted a text of statement recognizing the Genocide of Armenians in 1915-1917 to the Parliament.
According to RTV, the president suggested passing the statement at the next sitting of the Parliament. "We should work to protect human rights, the international criminal law, and to affirm that the crime against humanity has no period of limitation. We must make our contribution to the fight against Genocide denial," Milorad Dodik said.
The first country to recognize that crime against humanity was Uruguay. Genocide of Armenians has been recognized by 44 United States as well as by 23 countries, including Canada, Argentina, Switzerland, Russia, Belgium, France, Poland, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Greece, Cyprus, Vatican, Sweden, Lithuania.. Swizterland, Slovakia and Greece have even passed laws criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide. France is preparing a similar bill.
