Vice-Speaker of Armenian parliament Eduard Sharmazanov condemned Baku's latest efforts to introduce element of inter-religious conflict to Karabakh problem.
As Sharmazanov emphasized, Aliyev statements that Minsk Co-Chairs have pro-Armenian position as OSCE MG countries are islamophobes and Azerbaijan is an Islamic country, are highly provocative. "In the current geopolitical situation, when a wave of religious conflicts in the Middle East may turn into a world wide catastrophe, appearance of a new religious conflict is very dangerous. Such provocative efforts of Baku must be condemned both by international political and religious structures", Sharmazanov summarized.
Armenia's Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian also made a similar statement during a press conference in Yerevan on February 2. To note, recently Azerbaijan's president Ilham Aliyev accused Minsk Co-Chairs in pro-Armenian position on Karabakh settlement. According to him, this is explained by the fact that countries of OSCE MG are islamophobes, while Azerbaijan is an Islamic country.
