Foreign Ministry of Armenia has no data so far if there are citizens of Armenia among the affected people in the storm-stricken Batumi.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tigran Balayan told ArmInfo the Armenian Embassy in Georgia is verifying this information.
Heavy rains, wind and sea storm hit the resort town of Batumi, in the southwest of Georgia leaving the streets, buildings and the railway station flooded. There is no electricity in the town and hundreds of cars trying to leave the town have stuck in a traffic jam in the outskirts of the town. Rescuers are rushing to Batumi from Tbilisi and Kutaisi.
It is noteworthy that in July 2015, 181,000 citizens of Armenia arrived in Georgia for their summer holidays, according to the official data of the Georgian Interior Ministry. This figure was by 11.9% higher than in July 2014.
