If there was a genocide in Turkey, Armenians would not live in the country now, Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Erdogan told PBS TV channel during his visit to the USA, when replying to the question if the recognition of the Armenian genocide by Turkey is possible in future taking into account Erdogan's recent statement on the genocide.
On 23 April Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan offered condolences to the grandchildren of Armenians genocide. The unexpected statement was the first of its kind made by a Turkish leader.
