"Russia can achieve much by helping Azerbaijan settle the Nagorno Karabakh conflict," said the Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov, APA reported.
"Of course, the Nagorno Karabakh conflict was discussed at the meeting of Azerbaijani and Russian Foreign Ministers in Baku. Russia had a special position on this issue from the very beginning. Russia even had negative influence on it at the initial stage of the conflict," he said. According to him, thereafter, Russia revised its position on this issue as a Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group and formed a single approach.
"As I understand, Russia's main interest in this issue should be related to Azerbaijan. Because Azerbaijan is a country having the largest territory, human resources and stable, reliable and capable government. Azerbaijan can be a good partner for Russia. I think, it is within Russia's interest to see Azerbaijan as a developed, stable, reliable strategic neighbor. Russia can achieve a lot by helping Azerbaijan settle the Nagorno Karabakh conflict," Azimov said.
