I don't think that the case of Levon Hjayrapetyan must be considered in the light of his national identity, the Russian President's Special Representative for International and Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy said during a meeting with Armenian MPs on Monday.
"His national identity has nothing do to here. The case is about Bashkir oil. So, there are no anti-Armenian moods in Russian society," Shvydkoy said.
When asked to comment on the sale of Russian arms to Azerbaijan, Shvydkoy said that Armenia and Russia are also developing military- technical cooperation. "The Armenian army is very strong today and Russian arms have a big role here," Shvydkoy said.
