The Russian rescue plane transporting the Armenian citizens traveling from Vladikavkaz and trapped at Upper Lars border crossing made emergency landing at the Mineralniye Vody airport yesterday in the evening due to unfavorable weather.
Artak Ghazaryan, a representative of the Armenian Emergency Situations Ministry reports the rescue plane took off at 7:22pm Yerevan time and landed at the Mineralniye Vody airport after a while due to the bad weather. The crew and the passengers are waiting for the better weather conditions, the source reports. The Ministry keeps in contact with the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations. Earlier, the Russian ministry provided the names of all the citizens of Armenia trapped at Upper Lars checkpoint due to the mudslide. Earlier, Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan applied to his Russian opposite number Dmitry Medvedev with a request to help the two hundred Armenian citizens who have been trapped at the Upper Lars border crossing since the mudslide on June 23. A total of 200 trucks, 40 cars and 225 people have been stuck at the border crossing.
