Not one drop of Lake Sevan water goes to Azerbaijan, President Serzh Sargsyan said today at the annual general meeting of the National Academy of science when commenting on the speech of Academician Ruben Jrbashyan.
In his speech the academician gave negative assessment to increasing of the maximal volume of the water releases from the Lake Sevan, as in future drinking water will be more expensive than oil. He also added that because of the bad irrigation system, only 20-30% of Sevan water go to irrigation, and the rest volume - to Naxivan.
The president asked the scientists to exhibit a scientific approach toward this matter. "You will see that the government is truly taking relevant steps. And not even one drop of Lake Sevan water goes to Azerbaijan," Sargsyan said, in particular. President Serzh Sargsyan added that everything must be used sparingly, and in consideration of the coming generations.
