The European Commission headed by ex-Prime Minister of Luxembourg Jean-Claude Juncker is not going to provide the Eastern Partnership countries - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine - with perspectives of EU membership. This comes from Juncker's priorities, Vzglyad newspaper says.
According to Jean-Claude Juncker, the EU should develop close cooperation, association and partnership with its Eastern neighbors Moldova and Ukraine to further strengthen their economic and political ties. He says that one should not speak of EU expansion within the next 5 years.
To note, at the moment, 6 countries, namely Iceland, Serbia, Montenegro, Turkey, Macedonia and Albania seek to join the European Union.
