Leader of the Union for National Self-Determination Party, former candidate for president of Armenia, Paruyr Hayrikian is going to launch a hunger strike on 8 September in front of the president's administration.
The politician seeks President Serzh Sargsyan's resignation. According to him, the country's leadership has suffered a failure in their policy and must admit that publicly.
"We do not make adequate decisions with regard to our neighbors. Only a mad person like Putin could unleash war in the 21st century. Meanwhile, we blindly follow Russia. We must stop doing it," he said. According to him, many of his supporters discourage him of hunger strike, as they think such kind of protests are not effective in the country. However, the politician says that people go on hunger strikes to draw attention to a problem, that is why, it is a justified step.
