Moscow has been recently trying to employ soft power in its Caucasian policy - in the post-Soviet area, too, Varvara Pakhomenko, Europe & Central Asia analyst, told ArmInfo.
According to her, this is mainly carried out through significant financial infusion into the informational work in those countries. As a fact, she assessed it as a plus.
At the same time she believes Moscow fails the work regarding democratic regimes. It is quite likely that Moscow perceives the latter as something unpredictable. Pakhomenko observes the same problems in the domestic policy, too. She believes that Russia lacks experts among people who take decisions there.
Moreover, Moscow is often not ready to hear claims and the essence of problems. This can often be observed in Moscow's relations with its allies - these relations do not often envisage the partnership cooperation given Moscow's communication style.
The online interview has been organized under the Region Research Center's project "Dialogue International Press Center: diversification of international information sources for Armenian media" with the support of the OSCE Office in Yerevan.
