The current format of the OSCE Minsk Group is the best possible one, Nagorno-Karabakh Foreign Minister Karen Mirzoyan told journalists in Yerevan on June 3, when commenting on Azerbaijan's aspiration to enlarge the OSCE MG format.
"I think the current situation in the peace process has arisen due to the destructive stand of Azerbaijan rather than the OSCE MG format," he said.
He added that Artsakh must take part in the negotiations and that the real and full settlement of the conflict may be possible only in case of the NKR's participation in all the rounds of the talks.
Mirzoyan also touched on the military hardware sales to Azerbaijan. "I suppose that the adversary's destructive stand is an urgent problem now. We think if Azerbaijan chooses a constructive path, the export of military hardware to the region and the purchase of arms and military equipment will not be so topical," Mirzoyan said, when commenting on Azerbaijan's weapon deals.
In the meantime, when summing up the results of the NKR President Bako Sahakyan's meeting with the OSCE Chairman in Office, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, Mirzoyan said that the sides exchanged their views of the current stage of the Karabakh peace process and its prospects. They also discussed the situation on the Line of Contact, as well as the measures needed to ease the tension. Mirzoyan added that Bako Sahakyan and Ivica Dacic touched on the Azerbaijani raiders convicted in Artsakh.
"We stressed the importance of the OSCE Mission, particularly, the monitoring activities of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman in Office, which aim to create a relevant atmosphere for the peace process," said Mirzoyan.
