95% of Armenia's population come out against the constitutional reforms, Deputy Head of the Heritage Party Armen Martirosyan said at today's press conference in Yerevan.
"The authorities have already started bribing the representatives of the electoral committees. The Armenian National Congress has video footages confirming that fact," he said.
Martirosyan blamed the Armenian Police for taking steps that run counter to the legislation. The politician stressed that the police have no right to make political statements the way it did yesterday.
"Today's actions of the police are also immoral and violate the citizens' rights. They had no right to stop the rides of the buses that perform intercity operations. I would like to reiterate that today we will start a peaceful action of disobedience regardless of the police's actions," said the politician, adding that the Municipality of Yerevan is already informed of the intention to hold round-the-clock actions of disobedience till the Dec 6 referendum.
Martirosyan pointed out that Heritage and New Armenia hope to achieve their goal by December 6 and to launch the power shift process in the country. "The opposition forces have always acted within the boundaries of the law, unlike the authorities, who resort to illegal methods. We won't get involved in clashes, but no one has abolished the right to self-defense. If the law-enforcers illegally use violence against the citizens, they have the right to defend themselves," said Martirosyan.
He does not share the opinion that there are discrepancies between the Armenian National Congress and the New Armenia Front. He added that the forces' tactics is just slightly different but the differences will disappear by the referendum.
To note, the Police issued a statement saying that it will take measures to prevent illegal actions even by using coercive methods. The police also urged the rally organizers to observe all the items of the Municipality's letter.
