ArmInfo. The draft statement proposed by the parliamentary opposition on the delimitation and demarcation of the borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan does not provide for either the beginning or the end of this process, Armenian NA Vice-Speaker Ruben Rubinyan stated.
According to him, the opposition's argument for delimiting and demarcating borders is the front line, which is formed using military force. "On this line, the armies of the two warring states are trying to advance as far as possible, after which they stop due to the conclusion of a ceasefire agreement. Based on this, it is not difficult to conclude who has aggressive intentions - Armenia or Azerbaijan. Our country ", it is obvious that there are no such sentiments. Unlike state borders, which are a legal concept, the front line is a relative concept," the vice speaker said, adding that the opposition is trying to destroy the logic of the Alma-Ata Declaration with its steps.
Rubinyan emphasized that the delimitation and demarcation of borders is also intended to resolve problems in other areas, including in the area of the settlements of Sev Lich, Sotka, Nerkin Khanda, Berkaberd, Jermuk, and other occupied sovereign territories of the country. Rubinyan noted that in the event of hostilities, the allies that the opposition clings to will not help. "Your allies will not fulfill their obligations, and in the end what has happened many times will happen," the vice speaker emphasized.
In response, the secretary of the opposition faction "Armenia" Artsvik Minasyan saw Russia and Iran in the concept of "allies" to which the vice speaker was hinting. "Yes, our allies are Russia and Iran, and yours are Turkey and Azerbaijan," Minasyan noted, accusing the ruling force of trying to maintain power at any cost, including through territorial concessions.
On April 19, the Armenian Foreign Ministry, following the results of the eighth meeting of state commissions, announced that Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to begin delimitation from the Tavush region and by July 1 to complete the approval of the draft regulations on the joint activities of delimitation commissions. Since the evening of the same day, residents of the border villages of Tavush, dissatisfied with the agreements between Yerevan and Baku, have been holding protests.
