ArmInfo.The number of confirmed cases of autism is growing in Armenia, reads a report by the RA Ministry of Health on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day marked on April 2.
As the source notes, this year alone, as of March 29, 130 cases of infection have been identified in the country. There were 423 such cases in 2022, and 449 in 2023. Autism is a developmental disorder that can cause severe social, communication and behavioral problems. Over the past two decades, the level of disorders has increased in many countries, including Armenia.
The scope of outpatient medical care and services for children in Armenia includes both assessing the growth and development of a child and conducting a test for childhood autism, the purpose of which is the early detection of autism disorders and, accordingly, the implementation of early intervention.
World Autism Awareness Day was proclaimed by the United Nations in 2007 and is aimed at raising awareness and improving the lives of people diagnosed with autism.
