ArmInfo. Armenia will send about 30 tons of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. A resolution on this  decision was adopted on March 28 at a government meeting.

As Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan  stated, the adoption of the draft decision of the RA government is  conditioned by the willingness to provide social support to about 1.5  million people forced to leave Gaza and settled at the Rafah  checkpoint, who are in a difficult socio- economic situation as a  result of recent developments around the Gaza Strip. As part of  humanitarian assistance, the RA government will provide internally  displaced persons with food and medicine (in particular, canned food,  dry rations, antibiotics, medical solutions), ensuring their basic  socio-economic needs.

To provide assistance, the RA government will allocate 19 million  drams from the Reserve Fund. "A total of 29.94 tons of humanitarian  aid will be send," Sargsyan said.

And, since the delivery of aid is carried out by the Ministry of  Defense, the project proposes to allocate appropriate funds to the  Ministry of Defense. In total, state budget expenses will amount to  about 75.4 million drams.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in turn, recalled that the agreement  on sending humanitarian aid was reached during his official visit to  Egypt in early March.

On March 5, PM Pashinyan, at a briefing with Egypt's President Abdel  Fattah el-Sisi in Cairo said that the Republic of Armenia will  send  humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, solving logistics issues with the  help of Egypt.  "Armenia regrets the tens of thousands of innocent  victims as a result of the escalation of hostilities in the Gaza  Strip. We have ourselves lived through the horror of attacks on  civilians and civilian infrastructure, and we join the international  community's calls for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. In  this context, we highly appreciate Egypt's steps to ensure  uninterrupted access of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, the  reception of wounded Palestinians and the evacuation of foreigners,"  Pashinyan said.
