No single penny from the Russian 200-mln-USD-loan will be channeled for energy price hike compensation, Ara Nazaryan, the deputy minister of Defence of Armenia, said during the July 2 meeting held at National Assembly.
According to Nazaryan, the purpose of the agreement is of military character and is to provide military parity in the region. The agreement was signed in Yerevan on June 26, 2015.
The loan period is 13 years. In 2015-2017 Armenia is to purchase Russian armaments.
ArmInfo has previously informed that Russia is to allocate money to Armenia for the purchase of armament that can efficiently solve issues of strategic importance. Armenia is to receive "Pantsir-S" - medium range surface-to-air missile, all-terrain infantry mobility vehicle "Tigr ", BTR-80, means of communication, anti- tank missile complexes, etc.
According to the info, these armaments have been partially delivered to Armenia. In response to ArmInfo's enquiry at Ministry of Defence of Armenia regarding the armament procurement the news was neither denied nor confirmed. ArmInfo has been told to wait.
