All this war in Nagorny Karabakh could be stopped in 20 seconds with a simple phrase of the Kremlin to Baku - "Armenia is our ally," says Anton Nosik, a public figure and well-known blogger. In his words, Baku is, sure, not ready to war with Russia, so they would step back to the positions prepared beforehand and postpone the "policy by other means" to better times, the blogger writes.
As for the reasons of the escalation, the blogger says that Azerbaijan had been waiting for this revenge for more than 22 years and the military and political preparations for the ongoing developments had been held there all those years. "It is interesting why did they decide to attack now. Perhaps, some external forces that had been holding Baku from resumption of that war have kept aloof. Maybe, Aliyev has fewer reasons to reckon with external forces, and more reasons to militarize the internal agenda. I have heard that such things happen to oil states when the price of their raw
materials slide. They sometimes enter armed conflicts to distract the population and elites from the economic problems. What exactly happens behind the scenes of the Azerbaijani police I do not know and have no one to ask from.
However, as Claude Adrian Helvetius said, knowing some principles is enough not to know separate facts," Nosik writes. In his words, the principle is simple, war is necessary only to Azerbaijan to take back the territories in lost in 1994. As Carl von Clausewitz said: "War is the continuation of policy (politics) by other means." But this is the policy of Azerbaijan only, not the other parties to the conflict, Nossik writes.
