The attempt to deploy Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh will become a catastrophe for Armenian-Russian relations and Russian policy in the Caucasus, Hrachya Arzumanyan, military and national security expert, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Head of Ashkhar, a Stepanakert-based Center of Strategic Analysis, expressed this opinion to ArmInfo.
"Almost all the population of Armenia will meet the attempt to deploy forces with hatred except of a number of oligarchs and functional, who are 1% of the population. The attempts to start implementing the plan will destabilize Armenian authorities in Yerevan. In case of Stepanakert it will not be easy to shift the power there as it is currently in war", stated the expert.
According to Arzumanyan one should consider and study such scenarios at the background of irrational behavior of Moscow in Ukraine. This means that there are forces in Kremlin, which are interested in escalation of the situation in Armenia and the Armenian nation does not have right to exclude this possibility.
"The fact that Serzh Sargsyan will in such case loose his power and may become another "yanukovich" somewhere in Moscow suburbs is insignificant for us. The most significant thing is that we will loose Armenian statesmanship. The intention to deploy Russian peacekeepers in the zone of Artsakh conflict amid heated public sentiments will lead to destabilization of Armenian power, growth of sharply negative attitude toward Russia and a wave of hatred towards Russia and Russian troops", the analyst thinks.
Arzumanyan is sure that there are forces in Russia who intend to implement this scenario, which will lead to failure of Armenian power. After this the Armenian nation and Armenians will have to deal with not military but political catastrophe and will certainly overcome it. "When everything is over Russia will not be present in Armenia. In the best case it will manage to sell its assets. The conclusion is that we should sober in Moscow those who suggest this scenario to the authorities", the analyst summarized.
