The activities of Ler Ex Ltd, an ore mill operating in Syunik region, causes serious damage to nature, reports the Pan-Armenian Environmental Front.
According to the greens, in 2011 the company drafted a project to build a tailing dump but the project has not so far been submitted to the Environmental Protection Ministry for an environmental impact assessment.
"The company has a water permit stipulating that it should use water on a closed cycle basis but it doesn't do it. As a result, the water from the tailing dump gets into Geghi River," the greens say.
They say that the Environment Protection Ministry is well aware of the situation but is doing nothing to stop it, and so, they have collected necessary evidence against the company and have submitted it to Prosecutor General Gevork Kostanyan.
