Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Armenian Parliament Artak Zakaryan has sent a letter to parliamentarians from different countries on the occasion of the 22nd year of the Agdam events (the Khojaly provocation).
He urges his foreign colleagues not take Baku's bait and to ignore its anti-Armenian provocations.
"Though as many as 22 years have already passed since the events in Agdam, Azerbaijan continues its anti-Armenia propaganda. There are lots of documents on those events, so, we hope that our foreign colleagues will not be misled," Zakaryan said.
Feb 25-26 1992 the authorities of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic undertook a military operation to deblock the airport and to render harmless the Azeris' firing points near Khojaly. The operation was commanded by Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan. The Nagorno- Karabakh troops opened a corridor for civilians and had informed the Azeri authorities about that beforehand. However, the latter did nothing to take their people out of the combat zone.
