Some 5,000-6,000 people have gathered in Yerevan's Liberty Square today in protest of compulsory accumulative pension system in Armenia.
ArmInfo's correspondent reports from the scene that the rally was opened by an activist from the I Am Against civic initiative, who welcomed the protesters and said that all parties and NGOs must act together when it comes to the interests of their people.
Among the protesters are representatives of four opposition parliamentary parties: Armenian National Congress, ARFD, Prosperous Armenia and Heritage.
The protesters will shortly start a march along the central streets and will finally go back to Liberty Square to sum up the results of the rally and to outline their further plans.
The Government's decision to impose compulsory accumulative pension system caused a wave of public protests. In response to an appeal by Armenian National Congress, ARFD, Prosperous Armenia and Heritage the Constitutional Court suspended some points of the relevant law. On Mar 28 it will meet again to pass the final verdict.
