Azerbaijan has applied to PACE Bureau to impose sanctions on Armenia.
APA reports that on June 22 the PACE Executive Committee held a meeting in Strasbourg. Among other issues, the agenda includes a draft resolution on "Imposing sanctions against Armenia" proposed by member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE Elkhan Suleymanov.
At a press conference in Strasbourg, PACE President Anne Brasseur commented on the document on "Imposing sanctions against Armenia." "We are requested to impose sanctions against Armenia. However, this proposal does not specifically mention the issue of freezing the powers of Armenian delegation. This issue will be discussed at the meeting on the last day of the PACE PA session".
As regards the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, she said, "We are looking forward to the Azerbaijani President's speech in the Assembly". "I want to say that Azerbaijan's territorial integrity is one of priorities for us. Our resolutions in this regard shows that PACE is determined to defend the territorial integrity", she said.
The final decision on the draft resolution will be taken on June 27.
