The problem of the Armenian genocide has become an instrument in the hands of the Western superpowers both for imposing pressure upon other countries and attraction of numerous Armenian Diaspora to their side, political expert, Ruben Mehrabyan, said at today's press-conference.
'President of France Francois Hollande's visit to Turkey is a very much important event for the region and Europe. But unfortunately, the problem of the Armenian genocide has become an instrument for clarification of the inter-state relations", - he said.
The expert thinks that Europe does not have a general position regarding official Ankara, as every European country conducts policy stemming from its own interests. He also added that Turkey's rapprochement with the West is stemming from Armenia's interests.
To note, during his official visit to Turkey President of France, Francois Hollande called on Turkish authorities to stop denying the fact of mass murder of Armenians in the Ottoman Turkey in 1915. He also added that France will adopt the law on criminalization of the Armenian genocide denial.
