Reforming the civil service in Armenia remains one of the European Union's priorities, Ambassador Piotr Switalski, the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, told ArmInfo.
"Civil service is an important link in the administrative system. The EU supports the reforms in Armenia," the ambassador said adding that the EU welcomes the civil service reform vision presented by Manvel Badalyan, the head of the civil service department, at the event dedicated to civil service reforms in the country.
The European diplomat said a new law on civil service is being drafted. A strategy on it was adopted in December 2015. According to Switalski, these are good documents and the EU will continue assisting Armenia in the field.
The two-day international seminar dedicated to reforming the system of training as a response to the challenges in civil service sector kicked off in Yerevan on June 15. The event is held as part of the Eastern Partnership "Public Administration Reform." The goal of the seminar is to study the European experience in the field and apply it in Armenia in future in cooperation with the representatives of the EU EaP countries responsible for the public administrative fields and the organizations managing the civil service sectors.
Representatives of the civil service sectors of Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Poland and a number of international organizations are participating in the event.
To recall, the Government of Armenia adopted a strategy of reforming the civil service sector until 2020. The key vector of reforms is based on the European principles and international standards.
