The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Executive Body will meet on 26 April. The candidates for the post of the parliament speaker and some ministers may be named at the meeting, RPA told ArmInfo.
It has been widely rumored in the political cycles recently that there are three probable candidates for the position of the parliament speaker: Karen Karapetyan, the owner of Tashir Group of Companies, Galust Sahakyan, the head of the RPA Faction, and Eduard Sharmazanov, the Vice Speaker of the Parliament.
However, Karen Karapetyan inherently refused from the post of the parliament speaker at his meeting with President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan overnight. According to Karapetyan's office, the businessman told the president he has no desire to head the parliament as he has different plans. What particular plans Karapetyan spoke about is not known.
