The fight of several Armenian villages against construction of a small HPP in the Karbi Gorge seems to be a success.
Residents of several villages in the Argatsotn region have been repeatedly blocking the Yerevan-Aparan road as a sign of protest against construction of the small HPP, which, as they claim, will deprive the villages of the irrigation water. Earlier on Wednesday, in the course of another action of protest, Minister of Territorial Administration of Armenia Armen Gevorgyan met with the villagers and promised them to give a solution to the problem on 21 March.
Meanwhile, Gala Energy Company engaged in implementation of the given project has declared in a statement that it curtails all kind of construction activities in the community of Oghakavan over the public protests and is ready to study the project with the parties interested.
