Comparing Gagik Tsarukyan, Leader of Prosperous Armenia Party, and Bidzina Ivanishvili, Leader of Georgian Dream Party, is inexpedient, Stepan Safaryan, Secretary of Heritage Party, told reporters, Wednesday. To recall, the first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan has made such a comparison lately.
"These two forces have passed quite different paths. Furthermore, PAP is not an opposition force unlike Georgian Dream that came out as an opposition party and went on big risks to implement its reforms," Safaryan said. He said PAP has not openly declared an intention to change power in the country. Sociologist Aharon Adibekyan, in turn, said Ter-Petrosyan is well aware that the only way to achieve power is to cooperate with a stronger political force, such as Prosperous Armenia. In addition, it is not clear yet what will be Heritage Party Leader Raffi Hovannisian's actions.
"Leaders of the opposition parties in Armenia suffer from Bonapartism that holds them from unifying and acting together. Each of them sees himself on the post of the president," Adibekyan said.
Speaking at the March 1 rally in Yerevan, Levon Ter-Petrosyan said representatives of big business must involve in the process of power change. "The last statement by the leader of Prosperous Armenia Gagik Tsarukyan was quite symptomatic in this respect. I don't think that Tsarukyan is worse than Bidzina Ivanishvili who peacefully changed the government in Georgia or Renat Akhmetov who prevented Yanukovich from imposing a state of emergency in Ukraine. I think that it is good time for us to change the government. Simply, we must consider the best way to do it. The ANC is ready to cooperate with all forces. I hope that next time we will be here with some other parties. This rally may give start to a serious process," Ter-Petrosyan said.
