Citizen of Turkey Osman Ugurlu has been detained in Armenia for an attempt to export drugs from Iran to Turkey via the territories of Armenia and Georgia, the National Security Service of Armenia told ArmInfo.
On January 17 on the Meghri border crossing, the State Revenue Committee officers searched a truck driving to Georgia from Iran and found 927 kg of heroine concealed in it.
A criminal case based on Article 215.2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia has been initiated at the Investigation Department of the NSS. The driver, citizen of Georgia Avtandil Martiashvili (1953) was detained. Investigative operations were held to expose the persons involved in the crime.
It was found out that the truck was prepared to transport drugs yet several years ago in the territory of Turkey by Osman Ugurlu. The latter has also been detained. Investigation is underway.
