On January 19, investigation committees from Moscow and Khabarovsk arrived in Gyumri over the case of Valery Permyakov, who is suspected of murdering an Armenian family in Gyumri, Armenia, a Kasparov.Ru correspondent reports with reference to Valentina Mordova, Chairwoman of the Committee of Soldiers' Mothers of the Zabaikalye Territory.
Mordova says that the investigators interrogated Valery's relatives in Baley, as well as his classmates, fellow soldiers and the military command in Peschanka, where he served before being transferred to Armenia. All of them characterized him positively. The fellow soldiers called him an excellent soldier, who did not violate the discipline and developed professionally.
Valery's father, Afghanistan war veteran, said that his son phoned him from Armenia on Jan 7 and expressed his desire to stay in the army as a contract soldier. The investigators have found out that Valery had nothing to do with drugs. Mordova is afraid that the local residents may apply lynch-law against Permyakov.
To recall, on Jan 12 a family of six was murdered in Gyumri. The only survivor, Seryozha Avetisyan, a six-month baby injured in Gyumri on Jan 12, died on Monday at 5:02 PM.
According to Armenia's Health Care Ministry, the baby underwent two surgeries but on Monday his kidneys failed again. Doctors from Armenia and Russia fought for his life but in vain. The key suspect of the murder is Russian serviceman Valery Permyakov. He was found near the Armenian-Turkish border and arrested. He is charged under the Russian Criminal Code. The Investigation Committee of Armenia has also instituted a criminal case on the murder.
