ARMENIAN PYUNIK REFUSES TO PLAY WITH AZERI NEFTCHI IN SEMI-FINAL OF
CIS FOOTBALL CUP
MOSCOW, JANUARY 19. ARMINFO. Pyunik (Armenia) has left Moscow
refusing to play with Azeri Neftchi in the semi-final of the CIS
Football Cup. The decision was made "for sacurity reasons."
Pyunik representatives have refused to comment on the incident to the
press, reports ITAR-TASS.
The press attache of the Russian Football Union Andrey Malosolov says
that the union will shortly make an official statement. "We knew
about Pyunik's plans and negotiated with the team."
The semi-finals are scheduled for Friday but already today it is
clear that the Azeri team has got to the final. Playing in the other
semi-final are CSKA (Russia) and Kaunas (Lithuania).
