Russia is ready to assist normalizing of the Armenian-Turkish relations by all means, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at today's joint press-conference with Edward Nalbandyan in Yerevan, when asked if Russia, having good relations with Turkey, is ready to assist in this matter.
"Before signing of the Zurich Protocols as well as after that Russia has always expressed readiness to make its contribution in the format that will meet both Armenia's and Turkey's views", - Lavrov said. In this context, he also added that during the talks between Armenia and Turkey, they touched on the infrastructure ideas as well, including establishment of the railway communication which would connect separate regions. "However, the first part belongs to the countries which signed the Protocols", - he said.
For his part, Armenia's Foreign Minister, Edward Nalbandyan, said that Sergey Lavrov was present at the signing ceremony of the Zurich Protocols, and this symbolizes Russia's supporting normalizing of the Armenian-Turkish relations. "Russia's and other countries' position was expressed in numerous statements saying that the relations should be normalized without any pre-conditions", - Nalbandyan said and added that Russia has been doing everything it can in this direction.
