Construction of New Ski Resort Begins in High Mountainous Adjara

Tbilisi. Construction of a new ski resort begins on Goderdzi Pass (mountainous Ajara) with the financial support of Austrian government, is said in a statement of the Finance Ministry of Georgia, which has been placed on the department's site on June 18.

"The agreement on the project funding was signed in Batumi between the Georgian government and Austrian UniCredit Bank Austria AG, which envisaged allocation of non-interest bearing credit amounting to Euro10,9 mln for ski infrastructure development in the region", the statement reads.

The document was signed from the Georgian party by Minister of Finance Dmitri Gvindadze and from the Austrian party by Managing Director of the bank Florence Werdisheim.

According to the information of the Georgian Finance Ministry, the Austrian bank will allot a preferential ( non interest bearing) credit for construction of the resort's infrastructure  on Goderdzi Pass.

"The assets will be employed for mounting 1,7 kilometer Gondola type rope way and 1,9 kilometer Chairlift type rope way. Total length of ski runs will reach 11 kilometers", is noted in the statement.

Austrian company Doppelmayr will implement the project, the contract with it was signed at the beginning of June.

"Besides, construction of hotels, cottages, restaurants, cafes and other tourist and sport objects are planned with private investor's assistance. Comfortable conditions for visitors will be provided", the ministry reports.
