It is absolutely inexpedient to draw parallels between the situations in Armenia and Ukraine, the first president of Armenia, the leader of the Armenian National Congress, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, said in an interview with iLur.am
He said that the processes in Ukraine are linked with a long-lasting confrontation of interests of the West and Russia, whereas in Armenia there are practically no forces with the pro-Western orientation. "If there were pro-Western forces in Armenia, the events similar to the Ukrainian Maidan would happen in the country long ago. So, processes in Armenia are conditioned only by the local factors. To be more specific, by aspiration of the people to get rid of the criminal power regime", - Ter-Petrosyan concluded.
