Georgian Government Resigns

ArmInfo-BLACK SEA PRESS. President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvilli satisfied the petition of the government of the country on resignation, a statement about it was published on the official site of the head of the state overnight on Thursday.

"On the order of President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, the petition on the government' resignation has been satisfied. On the basis of this decree, he will fulfill duties until the new government has been appointed. The staff of the new government of Georgia will be submitted to the parliament of the new convocation within a term, stipulated by the Constitution", the statement reads.

Saakashvili-led party United National Movement lost the parliamentary elections on October 1, having got 67 seats out of 150 ones in the parliament.  The Georgian Dream coalition, headed by billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, got 83 seats in the parliament of new convocation.  Other political forces failed to pass 5 per cent threshold, necessary for entering the parliament.

On Monday, Ivanishvili  presented a list of nominees for posts in the new Cabinet of Ministers, which will be approved by the parliament at the first sitting on October 20-21. Before the sitting, acting Cabinet of Ministers  will fulfill its commissions under the coalition's control.
