Tajikistan remains adhered to its position that all the conflicts should be settled peacefully via negotiations and this refers to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as well, Tajikistan's Foreign Minister Sirodjidin Aslov stated at a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on July 2.
"Due attention was paid to Karabakh conflict in our negotiations. I expressed sincere concerns related to the escalation of the situation in the South Caucasus earlier in spring, which led to human victims and losses. We attach great importance to prevention of escalation of the conflict and its development into wide scale military actions", Aslov stressed.
Tajikistan's Foreign Minister pointed at the fact that the two countries have close stands on a number of issues of international and bilateral agenda. In this context he expressed gratitude to the Armenian side for supporting Tajikistan's membership in the UN Economic and Social Council, as well as for the support within the CSTO.
For his part, Armenian Foreign Minister noted that he informed his Tajik counterpart of the efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group towards creation of relevant conditions for resumption of the Karabakh peace talks, as well as the steps towards implementation of the agreements achieved during the Vienna and St. Petersburg. "I would like to stress that we appreciate Tajikistan's balanced stand on the Karabakh peace process and the support of the OSCE mediators," Nalbandian said.
