More public and political organizations make statements condemning past night's events in Yerevan.
The Chamber of Lawyers of Armenia has strongly condemned the police violence against demonstrators and journalists and urges the competent bodies to find and punish those guilty.
Many journalist organizations have condemned violence against Mass Media representatives. ArmInfo has received a statement by the Armenian Pan-National Movement Party (APNM) wherein it says: "The Police actions on the night to July 30 were not preventive measures, but a specific punitive operation against not only demonstrators and journalists but also against the statehood of Armenia. APNM urges the competent bodies to expose the organizers and participants in the violence and bring them accountable, as well as set free the detained activists. The Party demands the parliamentary majority to convene extraordinarily to discuss the situation in the country."
Alliance Party has also condemned past night's events in Yerevan and urged punishment of all those guilty.
Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office NGO has called the Police actions on July 30 as state terror. The organization said the responsibility for the situation lies with Serzh Sargsyan and urged the international organizations to intensify their missions to Armenia to prevent outrage. Similar statements were made by the parties Prosperous Armenia, Armenian Revival, Heritage, Enlightened Armenia, Free Democratic, and a number of public organizations.
Meantime, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia is silent, as most of its members are resting at the world's best resorts these days. Nor has the political supporter of the ruling party, ARFD, made any statements yet.
Meantime, after last night's clashes between Police and activists in Yerevan 73 people were hospitalized, the Armenian Healthcare Ministry informs. Hundreds were detained. The cameras and other equipment of Mass Media were damaged and destroyed. Many journalists suffered from Police violence and special means.
