Parliament of Armenia ratified an Agreement On Establishment of Scientific Research Center for Developing Countries Having no Access to Sea Communications, Tuesday.
In his speech, Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan said the Agreement was signed in New York on September 24 2010. He said the countries having no access to the sea are more vulnerable and these countries make efforts to soften or recompense the lack of direct access to sea communications. The Agreement developed under the aegis of the UN provides for establishment of five scientific research centers to study possibilities of contribution to developing countries having no access to the sea. One of the Centers will be located in Mongolia and Armenia will participate in the given Center's activity.
Involving in such projects Armenia will receive a number of privileges for logistics, which will help raising investments and stimulating economic growth. At least two countries in the region create serious problems and obstacles to accessing sea communications.
