Several police officers were injured after a man began to fire with a gas pistol before the start of the court trial against activist Shant Haroutiunyan in Yerevan, Thursday.
The man armed with gas pistol jumped on a car and threatened to start firing and to activate a bomb allegedly installed inside the building. Police officers tried to render him harmless, but the man fired and injured several of them before he was detained.
Shant Haroutiunyan was arrested on 5 November 2013 in mass clashes of activists and the police in the Liberty Square in Yerevan. He is charged with organization of public disorders, while his supporters claim that the charges against him are fabricated.
