"Moscow is expecting all countries, including Turkey, to take in right spirit Russian President Putin's trip to yerevan For events commemorating Armenian Genocide Centenary," Grigory Karasin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia said in interview with interfax, when commenting on Turkey's response to the Russian president's upcoming visit to Armenia amid Russia's efforts to come closer to Turkey and in the light of the Turkish Stream project.
"It is part of history, and there is a very large Armenian community in Russia. Everyone must respect history and draw conclusions from it. As for the policy of the bilateral relations with our neighbors, they are well known. I think this will not harm the relations, quite the contrary, it will show our balanced and well- thought attitude to remembrance of all historical dates," the deputy minister said.
Asked if the Russian Federation will pass a document on the Armenian Genocide Centennial along with the relevant statement by the State Duma, Karasin said that first of all, President Putin will be attending the events in Yerevan on April 24.
"Relevant important events will be held in Russia too. I know that a range of meetings and public assemblies are expected in Moscow. A special service will be held at the Cathedral on April 24," Karasin said.
