Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and his Georgian counterpart Irakli Garibashvili had a phone call, during which Abrahamyan told Garibashvili about the meeting of Armenian Parliament Speaker Galust Sahakyan and representatives of the South Ossetia Republic.
According to the Armenian prime minister, Anatoly Bibilov was in Karabakh on a non-working day with a private visit and had an informal meeting of personal nature. No issues concerning South Ossetia or Abkhazia were discussed at the meeting.
Hovik Abrahamyan reaffirmed Armenia's strong support to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and the good-neighbored and friendly attitude of Armenia to Georgia, according to Georgia Online.
Earlier, on Monday, the Foreign Ministry of Georgia sharply responded to the meeting of Speaker of the National Assembly Galust Sahakyan with his South Ossetian counterpart Anatoliy Bibilov. Spokesperson of Georgian MFA David Kereselidze said that if the meeting is confirmed to have taken place, Tbilisi will adequately respond to Yerevan by any and all means. "This may be a note, message, or consultations, as well as a meeting with the ambassador", said Kereselidze. To note, Arsen Babayan, Head of NA Public Relations and Media Department, confirmed the meeting of Sahakyan and Bibilov. Babayan emphasized that the meeting did not have an official character. "It was a private meeting, the sides neither discussed nor reached any arrangements during it", Babayan said.
