The sit-in against electricity price hikes continues on Baghramyan Ave in Yerevan.
As many as 300 people are now on the avenue. Some are singing folk songs and dancing. The demonstrators have been presented with wild flowers. Like a day ago, the demonstrators are supplied with ice water, bakery free of charge.
Representatives of the local and foreign Mass Media are at the scene too.
To note, the sit-in against the electricity price hike continues in Yerevan for the 6th day already. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan expressed willingness to receive the delegation of the protesters and discuss their problems, however, the activists rejected that proposal. On June 23 in the morning, the Police used water cannons to disperse the sit-in. Later, on June 23 in the evening the people gathered in Baghramayan Ave again. Opposition parliamentarians also went to Baghramyan Ave.
Various international organizations and some foreign diplomatic missions in Armenia have slammed the police's actions against the peaceful demonstrators and journalists. They suggest immediately releasing all the detainees and investigating the cases of violence.
